Key Projects

March 2016- February 2017: study of seasonal signals in speleothems and the impact of the cave climate of the Dome Chamber (Han-sur-Lesse cave, Belgium). Moniotring climatic parameters (RBINS)  & geochemical analysis of water and calcite (Vrije Universiteit Brussel), 3D scan on the Dome Chamber (collaboration with EDYTEM-CNRS, France) & detailed geomorphological study of the site.

September 2014- February 2016: reconstruction of the Eemian climate in the northern Levant (Lebanon) related to the ongoing project BiSpEem BLESPO A1-reconstruction of Eemian climate and environment of the Belgian coast in the context of ongoing global warming: www.naturalsciences.be/geology/research/environment/bispeem. Reconstruction of the LIG climate from stable Isotope curves form Kanaan cave. Petrography & geochemistry of speleothems in collaboration with the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Belgium), U-Th Datings in collaboration with the National Enrironment Research Council & British Geological Survey (UK).

2010-2014- ANR- LIBRIS (France) project - contribution to seismic hazard assessment in Lebanon- lead by ISTERRE-CNRS: collaboration under WP Palaeoseismology and constraining seismic acceleration & hazard in the long return period range. In situ measurements on broken speleothems in pilot caves near Major active Faults,  3D laser scan & detailed mapping of the broken/unbroken speleothem population (number, precise shape) in collaboration with EDYTEM laboratory (France), statistical approach for a better definition of the probability range for exceeding a certain seismic acceleration in the study zone.
